Karmapa Center of Education (KCE), a Buddhist model school founded by Thaye Dorje, H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa

We are happy to meet you at KCE

Guests are most welcome at our centre. We have several beautiful guest rooms of various sizes and facilities available, whether you are here to practice or just to relax in this beautiful setting amidst the mountains.

Visiting us will give you the opportunity to build connections with our team and students and to get a glimpse into the life at a Buddhist education centre in the Himalayas.

You are most welcome to take part in our daily routines. Outside of school hours, you could do handicrafts with the students, or you could play games, do sports, yoga, or any other activities with them. We are open to the talents and experiences that you would like to share with us.

You are also welcome to spend time at KCE for your Dharma practice. For example, you could join the daily morning puja (Tara) and/or evening puja (Mahakala) in the temple, and it is available the rest of the day for your personal practice.

For deeper and more private practices we have a quiet meditation room built of wood, which has a large statue of White Tara. The room has a meditation area, a sleeping area, and an attached bathroom. It can be used for daily practices or for a personal short retreat.

Our Dharma library with Tibetan, English, and German Buddhist literature is also available to our guests. The library has a garden, where you are invited to enjoy reading surrounded by nature.

The beautiful landscape around KCE invites you for walks, or you could visit the nearby town Kalimpong. Day trips to nearby Sikkim or Darjeeling are also possible.
