Jahrhunderts wurde das Gebiet abwechselnd von den K\u00f6nigreichen Sikkim und Bhutan regiert. 1864 wurde Kalimpong als Bergstation durch die Briten ausgebaut und diente als Erholungsort in den hei\u00dfen Sommermonaten. Nach der indischen Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit 1947 wurde Kalimpong schlie\u00dflich Teil von Westbengalen. Durch die Annexion von Tibet durch China 1959, flohen viele Tibeter nach Kalimpong. Seitdem werden dort auch viele buddhistische Kl\u00f6ster und Institute gebaut.<\/p>\n<p>Die Temperaturen in Kalimpong sind recht angenehm. Die Sommer sind mild mit einer max. Temperatur von 30 \u00b0C und im Winter bewegen sich die maximalen Temperaturen auf 15 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr G\u00e4ste ist Kalimpong ist gut erreichbar. Der n\u00e4chste Flughafen liegt etwa 80 Kilometer (3 Std.
