The Karmapa Center of Education offers a unique approach to learning the Tibetan language. Since Tibetan is an important part of the education at KCE, we are now also making this opportunity available to our guests.

The best way to learn spoken Tibetan is through daily conversations with our Tibetan-speaking teachers, monks, and students of all ages. This helps quickly deepen and expand your Tibetan language skills. This approach is non-academic, focusing more on practical spoken language.

Additionally, our guest students can join our regular Tibetan classes, tailored to their level, ranging from beginner to advanced.

Our offer for guest students:

  1. Daily Tibetan classroom lessons from Monday to Friday
Depending on your needs and preferences, you may attend one or more lessons.
  2. For advanced Tibetan speakers:
    Attending our Dharma lessons
  3. Participate in our Torma-making workshops
  4. Daily pujas: Join the daily pujas, with guidance available if necessary.

KCE was an ideal place for my studies for several reasons. The center offers a calm and pleasant environment that encourages learning, in contrast to the bustling and sometimes distracting atmosphere of Kathmandu. Staying in a community, particular in one of our lineage, made me feel at home, and practicing Tibetan felt natural.

Being daily immersed in a Tibetan-speaking environment, especially with children who are eager to communicate, greatly improved my language skills. This kind of exposure to everyday language use is something that cannot be learned from textbooks.
