Whom we support
The target groups of the Karmapa Center of Education are children from different populations of the Indian Himalaya region.
These populations include the Lepcha and Bhutia tribes which belong to the original inhabitants of the region around Kalimpong. But also Sherpas, Tamangs as well as Bhutanese and Tibetan families settled in India.
Preserving Tradition and Dharma in the Himalayas
Many families of this region belong to the poor rural population and are mainly farmers.
With their agricultural activities, they generate just a small income and struggle to provide a good education for their children.
These populations carry a very rich cultural heritage. Also, most of these populations have been followers of Buddhism for centuries. Buddhism is part of their tradition and plays an important role in their daily life. These families wish their children to receive an education which integrates and reflects their culture and religion.
Meet our Students
Support a student: A sponsorship of 80 Euros per month covers the costs of a student attending KCE. But even a modest amount of 5 USD/Euro help us guarantee the sustainability of the education center.

Work at KCE – we are looking for primary school teachers or people with experience in working with children.
